Acts of Kindness Initiative
At Beaucoup Bakery, we believe in spreading kindness as far as we can! In lieu of the usual “Points Program” we’ve added the ability to pay our points forward. Every time you purchase a coffee or tea beverage, you have the chance to earn points.
As a member of our Acts of Kindness Initiative, you have the choice to use your points in three different ways:
1. BE KIND TO YOURSELF
Use your points to treat yourself to something special. We all deserve a bit of kindness now and again!
2. PASS IT ON
Use your “brownie points” to give a sweet surprise to a friend. Or just as kind, anonymously give to the next person in line!
3. PAY IT FORWARD
Your points can be used towards providing two weeks of school lunches for a Liberian girl, in partnership with www.MoreThanMe.org. This helps get little girls off the street and into school in one of the world’s most dangerous slums.
More Than Me
At Beaucoup, we are so grateful to have such a supportive community and want to spread a bit of kindness by giving back. We believe in empowering women and young girls, to support their best chances at life through our passion, food and the MoreThanMe foundation is one that is close to our hearts and values.
There are so many different needs in the world, and this authentic organization spoke to us as they support young girls in Liberia with a desire to be educated and we can help by providing school lunches for them.
A few facts on why we want to support MoreThanMe:
According to GirlUp, more than 40% of Liberian girls ages 10-14 have never gone to school. Unfortunately, young girls fall victim to the most frequently reported crime in Liberia, gender based violence. But investing in girls has huge rewards.
When a girl in the developing world receives 7 or more years of education, she marries 4 years later and has 2.2 fewer children.
An extra year of primary school boosts girls’ eventual wages by 10-20%. An extra year of secondary school: 15-25%.
When women and girls earn income, they reinvest 90% of it into their families, as compared to only 30-40% of a man.
Needless to say, for girls to get to a place where they feel secure, there needs to be education for all. While we are aware that this may not save the world, but it’s a simple way to spread a little kindness, something we are passionate about.
